name of this first e-bike and cost please v?
witht he centrally located motor- my only concern for 'off road' use is that it is in the prime spot for damage/ collecting dirt! are the motors vented at all? and what is on the inside of the casing at the lowest/ front most point? also, as there is more weight (and torque from the motor) has the frame geometry been adapted to cope?

will might choose some of these three 🙂
I been riding e-bikes before most people knew about them at least 10 yars ago. I have both rear wheel, mid and front drive bikes, and I prefer front. Much less weight on rear wheel and two independent drive systems. If you have spoke wheel hub instead of alloy, eventually spoke will go out of shape and wheel will wobble making ride dangerous and uncomfortable. This guy concentrating on bike when unloaded…which means this review is no good. We have to look at weight of bike when loaded with rider. Normally its 60%/40% (R/F) weight distribution. Only issue with front drive is you need good brakes as they wear out very quickly.
I have a xion rear hub motor on my focus jarifa speed 29r which is in par with a mid drive which operates on sensors. The harder you pedal the faster the bike goes. Going up hills is a breeze. You can't get better than German technology
What about e bike kits for tricyclrs
please get an editor your videos are 3x longer than they need to be
would like to see review / thoughts on road specific e bicycle (drop bars)
Would a chain wear from a mid mount motor, I am not too sure about that, it might be more prone to breaking, from sudden starts, and putting more stress on the chain but that wouldn't the same wear be given as if it was being peddled ?
Because at speed/momentum, the chain would have less drag on it, "but" that over all, the chain would possibly be more effected from a mid mount…is there a better chain to get for a mid drive….., seeing that if chain wear or breakage could be a problem and might be something that people might not want to have… or just to have a linkage pop…., what would be a good chain to get , made from what material.
What about the kilometers you can ride with each system. How do they influences on it.?
mid all day. 3000 watt cyclone go 50mph.
I like the front motor design better. We have one called GeoOrbital and one called the Urbanext (which I later found out is an iMortor). I like these because we can easily swap these out and put the original wheels back on if we wanted to ride the bike normally. Don't have to mess with the chain or the gears or anything.
JUst to add. Mid-drive/Central drive cost more than double than rear or front hub drive. If chain snaps on central drive, you have to push your bike home, or use taxi. If chain snaps in rear or front drive, you're croosing home, because motor is turning your wheel. I like your chanel. Keep up the good work.
I love front hubs as they take so much weight off the rear.
Put a Lekkie Bling ring on that mid drive motor! Factory chaing ring looks awfull and it weights a ton!
Granted we are all entitled to our opinions and I am a one-eyed bigoted and self-opinionated, one of a kind know all (lol) who says quite confidently Mountain Bikes rule the world!
Front wheel motor (had one never again) Can pull one along and unless you are turning the back wheel at the same speed one drags the other not a good idea.
Rear Wheel makes gears inoperable difficult to change a wheel with a puncture wheel needs to be strengthened if heavy riders on it
MID-DRIVE is my choice can increase torque using rear cassette as well motor is central on the bike for the best centre of gravity and a battery attached to the Bottle Cradle best place for weight distribution.
I have now a crappy MD Bafang 250 watt (all our nanny state allows)
and would not go back to any other system.
Thanks for the review
there is a lot of hate against ebikes.
i dont get why ,everybody can choose what to ride…
very informative … keep up the ggod wok!!!
I LOVE my front hub motor.
Retired prof here…very complete presentation, nice video work, perfect speaking cadence and good grasp of our language and dialect. Thank you for all that.
This lifelong biker just growing into triathalon shape appreciates all your insight. Your comparisons help me understand your topic. Your top end bikes and wheels really make this sport exciting for me, thank you again.
Please keep up the great work. You should be an engineer. You would be a great one!
the fuk is a 'biker' talking about electric mopeds for??
I'm building a bombtrack arise with a front hub 350w motor and huge battery. The bike has nexus8 rear hub so no maintenance and good weight distribution. I love to ride on and off road, but this will be my commuter bike. E bikes are so fun!
Hi. Can you give me a link for This rear hub motor e bike (impuls).
My vote is for a 250w front wheel for a low power draw motor assist 2 wheel drive bike
Rear hub is very small not too bad looking, try the golden motor version, it's real heavy, breaks spokes all the time with it,, moving to a mid motor set up on another bike.
Never choose a front drive, they can break forks, as kits not made for specific forks, not good for cornering in the wet at fair speed.
Well.. thats right'' who lean's backwards to pedal up a hill… Front wheel's the go'' dual traction…
This guy is, full of it, he compares 3 basic set-ups for a balance WITHOUT rider. ARE YOU EVER GOING TO RIDE
A BIKE BY ITSELF WITHOUT RIDER ???.
Once you sit on your bike your weight changes the whole equasion, since you likely weigh more than your bike and everything you put on it.
So no matter what, THE FRONT HUB will be the best weight distribution for bike + rider since the weight of a rider on the classic bike is about 2/3 on the rear wheel and 1/3 on the front, so the weight of the hub mounted on the front wheel will counterbalance the total weigh, most on it on the rear.

How about regenerative braking? Did regenerative branking motors not popular?
My favorite is the front hub motor. it's the most simple, and makes the bike all wheel drive as mentioned.
