There are tons of great videos online you can watch that will show you various aspects of learning how to successfully ride a skateboard. You can also buy a DVD's that you can watch at home over and over again. Make sure you get those that are at your current skill level though so you are not reaching too far out. If you have friends or family members that skateboard ask them to teach you how to ride as well. You can even offer to teach them something they want to find out more about in return.
With the right information, the right mindset, and a commitment to doing it you will be able to learn how to successfully ride a skateboard. The sooner you get started with the process, the sooner you are going to be able to see the benefits from it. If a particular method of learning is not working for you then switch to one that will. You may even find that combining various learning methods is the key to your success with skateboarding.
